HARRISONBURG, Va.- The Sweet Briar College field hockey team played its first night game of the season on Wednesday at Eastern Mennonite University. The Royals tallied nine goals in the first half on way to an 11-0 victory.

"Despite the scoreline, we can really hang our hats on the fact that we played much better in the second half and continued to work and pressure until the final whistle," said Head Coach Hannah Lott.

Sweet Briar first-year Rosemary Austin made 17 saves in the match as she is really getting into her element in the cage, according to Lott. Senior Chelsea McKinney did her part to help hold the opposition in check by registering the first defensive save of her career.

Despite the scoreline, SBC ended the match on the offensive with first-year Ajhani Oxendine applying constant threatening pressure. The Vixens will look to carry that positive momentum into their match at Hood College this Saturday, Sept.9. The hockey will get underway in Frederick, Md. at 2:30 p.m.
