FREDERICK, Md.- The Sweet Briar College field hockey team traveled to Hood College for a Saturday afternoon affair. The host Blazers controlled the run of play all afternoon on way to a 5-0 victory.
Despite the scoreline and possession, Sweet Briar's defense held its own, led by first-year goal keeper Rosemary Austin. The Commerce Township, Mich. native made a career best 28 saves as she faced 46 total shots on the afternoon.
"Rosemary has really earned her Pink and Green," said Head Coach Hannah Lott. "She's really hitting her stride in the cage and that's exciting to see from a first-year player."
Lott feels that her team is really closing the gap on its competition and she's excited to see where her team is when they play Hood again on Oct. 27.
The Vixens will return to action next weekend when they play back-to-back games. They'll be at Moravian College on Friday, Sept. 13, for a 5 p.m. start and then they are scheduled to face off against Cedar Crest College on Saturday at 11 a.m.
