Roanoke Visits SBC Hockey For Afternoon Affair

SWEET BRIAR, Va.- On Wednesday afternoon, the Sweet Briar College field hockey team hosted Roanoke College. The Vixens battled tough all afternoon but the Maroons emerged victorious 9-0.

First-year goalkeepers Rosemary Austin and Kayleigh Ness split time in the cage for SBC with Austin starting her eighth game of the season and making six saves in the first half of action. Ness took over after halftime and made four saves in her first appearance of the season.

Sweet Briar's defense held strong for most of the match, only allowing three first-half goals and not conceding any goals on Roanoke's 16 corners.

The Vixens will now turn their attention to Bryn Athyn College, who will host SBC on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
