Nine Vixens honored by IHSA for academics

GLADYS, Va. — Three Sweet Briar equestrian student-athletes were recognized by the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association with IHSA National All-Academic First Team honors as Cassie Fenton, Cassie Mills and Lily Peterson picked up nods, while another six Vixens received second team laurels.

Earning first team recognition was: Fenton (Sr., Peachtree City, Ga.), Mills (So., Morrisville, N.C.) and Peterson (Fy., Ashland, Va.).

Second team honors were bestowed upon: Jade Ashley (So., Lovingston, Va.), Courtney Barry (Sr., Aspers, Pa.), Makayla Benjamin (Sr., Leesburg, Va.), Amber Snyder (So., Jefferson, Md.), Erin Snyder (So., Jefferson, Md.) and Jules Sudol (Sr., Scottsville, Va.).

Barry and Benjamin were previously recognized by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association as members of the American Paint Horse Association NCEA Academic Honor Roll and as First Team 2018 Farnam NCEA All-Academic honorees.

First team honorees qualified by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or higher, while participating in at least one regular season IHSA horse show during the academic years. Second team recipients were held to the same participation requirement and boast a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
