Barry, Benjamin highlight Farnam NCEA All-Academic honorees

WACO, Texas — The National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced Thursday the 2018 Farnam NCEA All-Academic Teams and includes four Sweet Briar riders, with seniors Courtney Barry and Makayla Benjamin earning first team laurels.

The 2018 Farnam NCEA All-Academic Teams recognize student-athletes for success both in the arena and in the classroom during the 2017-18 academic year.

Barry (Aspers, Pa.) and Benjamin (Leesburg, Va.) joined riders from across the nation as first team honorees after competing in a minimum of 70 percent of the Vixens' meets, while also earning a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.

Junior Emily Schlosberg (Fairfax,Va.) earned a second team nod, while junior Aoife Magner (North Potomac, Md.) was named honorable mention.

Second team honorees must have competed in a minimum of 60 percent of the school's meets, while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. Honorable mention criteria included participating in 50 percent of the school's meets and posting a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
