SWEET BRIAR, Va.- The Sweet Briar College lacrosse team open its 2017 campaign on Sunday afternoon with a home game against Alvernia University. The Crusaders overcame the brisk weather enroute to a 17-0 victory.
Junior Elizabeth Phaup led the way for SBC with three shots. The Amherst, Va. native also collected three groundballs and won a draw control.
Shawnta Sherman made her first career start in goal for the Vixens, making six saves along the way.
Sweet Briar finished 6-for-9 on clear opportunites, compared to Alvernia's perfect 5-for-5.
The Vixens will be in action next on Saturday, March 18, when they host Manhattanville. The game is schedule to 1 p.m. on Babcock Field.
