Cross, Lawson rattle cage as Knights top Vixens

BUENA VISTA, Va. — Sweet Briar first year Abby Cross opened her collegiate scoring account, while sophomore Victoria Lawson scored a pair of goals as the Vixens fell 17-3 to Southern Virginia at Knights Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Knights took a 10-0 lead in the opening half before Lawson (Shipman, Va.) scored her first goal of the game. 

Lawson opened the scoring in the second period, scoring her 16th goal of the season at the 29:32 mark.

Cross (Denver, Colo.) wrapped up the scoring with eight seconds remaining in regulation with the first goal of her collegiate career. 

On the draw, Lawson led the Vixens with four draw controls, while senior A'Shawnta Sherman (Richmond, Va.) notched 11 saves in goal.

Sweet Briar will host Senior Day on Saturday when Randolph visits the Vixens at 1 p.m.
