Soccer Begins Conference Play Against Eastern Mennonite

SWEET BRIAR, Va.- Hosting Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday afternoon, the Sweet Briar College soccer team opened the book on ODAC play. The Royals netted three goals on either side of halftime for a 6-0 victory.

The Royals pushed the tempo from the opening whistle and peppered the goal with 37 total shots.

The best scoring opportunity for the Vixens came near the end of regulation when they earned a free kick just outside the 18-yard box. Senior Des'rae Davis stood over the ball and took a solid shot, but the Royals keeper made a diving save to her right to preserve the clean sheet.

Sophomore Caroline Thomas played all 90 minutes in goal for Sweet Briar and tied her career-best effort with 12 saves in the contest.

Sweet Briar will conclude its nonconference schedule on Monday when John Wesley University comes to campus for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
