Soccer Returns Home To Face Virginia Wesleyan

SWEET BRIAR, Va.- Sweet Briar College hosted Virginia Wesleyan University on a hot and humid afternoon at Babcock Field.

For the most part, the Marlins controlled the run of play in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup. Virginia Wesleyan is the second-highest scoring team in the conference and proved why with a 10-0 victory over the Vixens.

SBC goalkeepers Sam Holton and Caroline Thomas each played 45 minutes in the contest and each recorded double-digit saves. Holton, a first-year, started the match and allowed four goals while making 10 saves. Thomas came on after the intermission and made 12 saves while facing 32 shots.

Sweet Briar will remain at home this weekend and face Randolph-Macon College beginning at 3 p.m. The soccer match is part of a busy Families Weekend, that will also feature a field hockey match at 12:30 p.m.
