GREENSBORO, N.C. --- The Sweet Briar swim team completed the 2012-13 campaign on Sunday evening, delivering a 7th place performance in the ODAC Championship Meet help at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
The Vixens opened the final session of the weekend getting points from first-year Lydia Fleck (Poquoson, Va./Poquoson) and sophomore Ashley Royal (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook) in the 1650y Freestyle. In the next event, the 200y Backstroke, SBC collected more points off the swims from Quinn Griswold (Alpine, N.Y./Odessa-Montour) and Laure Herzog (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton).
Senior Dani Humphrey, swimming in her last collegiate meet, again came through for the Vixens, scoring in the 100y Freestyle with a career-best time of 57.47. In the next event, the 200y Breaststroke junior Marian Huber (Newport News, Va./Menchville) placed second in the B Final with a season-best time of 2:37.19. Royal and first-year Molly Van Buren (New Haven, Vt./Mt. Abraham) also gain points for the Vixens in that event. In the 200y Butterfly, Sweet Briar again boasted multiple point-scorers. Vida McCahey (Novato, Calif./Novato), Fleck and Blair Nelson (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) were all point-getters for SBC. In the final event of the weekend, the Sweet Briar team of Humphrey, Schoenherr, Fleck and Purvis touched sixth in the 400y Freestyle Relay, finishing in a time of 3:50.93.
Head Coach Jason Gallaher commented, "We finished up well Sunday evening. We had some strong swims, and improvement from the morning session. All in all, we have several strong performances and it was great to see several lifetime best times throughout the weekend."
