Swimming Takes Seventh At ODAC Relays

LEXINGTON, Va.- The annual ODAC Relays were held on Saturday afternoon at Washington and Lee University to signal the start of the collegiate swimming season. The Sweet Briar College swim team was voted to finish seventh the conference this year and upheld that vote by claiming the same spot in the 11-team relay meet.

The best early showing for SBC came in the 3x50 yard backstroke relay where the team of Taylor Allen, Lauren Graham, and Sarah Ahson claimed sixth place with a time of 1:35.46. In the 3x50 yard breaststroke relay, the team of Allen, Claire Zak, and Theresa Carriveau notched ninth place by stopping the clock at 1:54.34.

 Ahson, Zak, Allen, and Sydnie Stinette took tenth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:12.48. The final big point scoring for the Vixens came in the 100-yard dolphin kicking relay, where the team of Ahson, Graham, Dharma Kear, and Stinette finished ninth in a time of 1:14.69.

Sweet swimming will open its home campaign when Gallaudet University visits campus on Oct. 28. The meet will also feature Hampden-Sydney College swimming against the Gallaudet men and will begin at 2 p.m.
