Swimming Splits Double Dual on Wednesday Evening

SWEET BRIAR, Va.- The Sweet Briar College swim team split a double-dual meet held on Wednesday evening in the Prothro Natatorium. SBC bested Ferrum College, 106-65, and dropped the dual against Bridgewater College, 157-39.

Dharma Kear and Sarah Cahoone represented SBC well in the 100-meter IM, claiming third and fourth place respectively. Kear finished in a time of 1:28.05 and Cahoone was right behind with a time of 1:29.15. Kear also snagged third in the 800 free (12:09.41) and the fourth in the 400 freestyle (5:50.71). Cahoone claimed another fourth-place finish with a time of 1:29.83 in the 100 backstroke.

First-year Sydnie Stinnette claimed two individual fourth-place finishes, in the 50 free and the 100 free. Stinnette touched at 34.05 in the 50 freestyle and 1:17.35 in the 100.

Theresa Carriveau clocked a time of 5:40.65 to claim third place in the 400-meter freestyle. Senior Claire Zak also notched a third-place finish for SBC, by stopping the clock at 1:40.06 in the 100-meter breaststroke. 

Sweet Briar finished second in the evening's final event, the 200 free relay. The team of Carriveau, Stinnette, Caroline Thomas and Zak finished in a time of 2:20.12.

The Vixens will swim one more time in the 2017 calendar year, Dec. 1 and 2 at the Liberty University Invitational.
