Fall Tennis Underway

SWEET BRIAR, Va. --- Head Coach Teresa Boylan leads a fall tennis team featuring eight returning players and one first-year.  The Sweet Briar squad will again be lead by senior captain Sarah Manter (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick).  Manter and company will play in a total of three tournaments this fall.

Vixen Tennis opened the fall season on September 15 with the annual Vixen Invitational.  The 2012 edition of the tournament pitted SBC against Lynchburg College. Coach Boylan commented that, "the first competition of our fall season gives us a gage on where we are as we head into the ITA Regional Tournament this upcoming weekend."

SBC heads to Fredericksburg, Va. on Friday, September 21 for the annual ITA Regional Tournament hosted by Mary Washington University.

To start the fall season, Boylan's squad has been working on upping fitness levels and sharpening court skills. The fourth year head coach notes, "the competition ahead will be beneficial to our players."  The team will use fall season results as a benchmark when preparing for spring season match play.

Fall season match play concludes in Norfolk, Va. on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan College at the Fall ODAC Individual Tournament on October 6 and 7.
