Hilton Head Island, S.C. --- The Sweet Briar Tennis team is in the midst of competitions at the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) Spring TennisFest in the Palmetto state.
Matches began with a tightly contested bout with Salve Regina University (Newport, R.I.). The Vixen side eventually lost the 5-4 decision, but the match play was well-fought – including a number of tie breakers, third sets and long rallies.
Two contests remain on the spring break slate for Vixen Tennis. The team plays Olivet (Olivet, Mich) on Thursday, March 14 and the week concludes with Marietta (Marietta, Ohio) on Friday, March 15.
Prior to the team's departure, Head Vixen Tennis Coach Teresa Boylan shared that she was looking forward to the week in South Carolina as her team had really stepped up its effort in practices.
Junior player Emma Merritt-Cuneo (Pacifica, Calif./Oceana) added that the week would be great because it allowed the team to focus on tennis. Merritt-Cuneo also predicted the group would enjoy the trip as it give the team a chance for more bonding.
