ROANOKE, Va.- The Sweet Briar College tennis team traveled to Hollins University for a crucial ODAC match on Wednesday afternoon. Hollins prevailed in the back-and-forth match, 6-3.

The Vixens began singles play down 3-0, but quickly made up the deficit by sweeping singles courts one through three. First-year Emily Wandling won her tenth singles match of the season and first on court one. The Mechanicsville, Va. native took down Jhovanna Salmeron, 6-2, 6-0.

On court two, senior Gina Rutledge made quick work of Olivia Dannon, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Samantha Yew split her first two sets on court three, before her opponent had to retire with an injury, giving Yew her eighth singles win of the campaign.

SBC tennis will return to action on their home courts at Amherst Middle School this Friday, when they host Guilford College beginning at 3:30 p.m.
