The Sweet Briar tennis program was selected 11th in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Preseason Tennis Poll. The Vixens garnered 29 points in the coaches poll released on Wednesday morning.
The 2018 edition of SBC tennis will welcome back last year's wins leader Emily Wandling. The sophomore from Mechanicsville, Va. finished last season with a 12-4 singles record. Wandling and doubles partner Samantha Yew also teamed up to record a 9-5 tally in 2017. In addition to Yew, Sweet Briar will look for senior experience from A.J. Lukanuski and Anna Colvin.
In his first year at the helm, Head Coach Dustin Hale is looking forward to the season. "The girls and I are very excited about this upcoming season and looking forward to making an impact in the ODAC and building a different culture around here," noted Hale. "We definitely have talent on our team so it is just about them believing they can go out there, work hard and pull off some upsets. We look forward to the challenge and can't wait to get out there."
SBC will open up 2018 play against ODAC rival Washington and Lee on February 20 at 4:00 on the Vixen Tennis Courts.
