Tennis Opens Up Spring Schedule

The Sweet Briar tennis season opened their spring slate of matches at home on Tuesday.  The Vixens welcomed #12 Washington and Lee University to campus on a sunny and breezy afternoon.

Emily Wandling and AJ Lukanuski led the way for Sweet Briar.  Wandling grabbed a game from Michelle Fleenor  (6-1, 6-0) at first singles and Lukanuski took three games from Mary Hampton McNeal (6-1, 6-2) on court two.  The Wandling/Lukanuski team also won a game in their doubles match, falling to Fleenor and Lauren Hassell (8-1)

Coach Dustin Hale was pleased with his team's performance.  "I feel the girls played well under the circumstances," he said.  "It's always tough playing a team in the top 20, but we fought hard until the end.  We will take all the positives from the match and get ready for Ferrum on Friday."
