SWEET BRIAR, Va. --- The Vixen soccer team hosted Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Shenandoah University on Saturday, October 26.  The game, held during SBC's annual Homecoming and Families Weekend celebration, also served as senior day for the Sweet Briar soccer program.

Prior to the match, Vixen Athletics recognized midfielder Nina Peck (Falls Church, Va./Home Schooled).  Peck was escorted by her parents Geoff and Delores Peck.

Peck and company kept the visitors off the board through twenty-four minutes.  Midway through the half, SBC was whitsled for a foul in the box and Hornet Anna Wilson (Richmond, Va./J.R. Tucker) converted a penalty kick to give SU a 1-0 lead.   Minutes later, SU struck again, this time Averi Rosena (Hamilton, N.J./Pennington) snuck a near post shot past SBC's Katie Tillson (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee).

Sweet Briar's Chelsea Daniels (St. Augustine, Fla./Pedro Menendez) nearly netted a goal for the hosts with about 15 minutes remaining in the first half, but SU keeper Nicole Pratt (Chesapeake, Va./Atlantic Shores) batted the shot away to keep a clean ledger.

With halftime approaching, Kati Richardson (Gainsville, Va./Battlefield) and Jennifer Nguyen (Frederick, Md./Ferderick) combined in the box for a bang-bang play that led to a 3-0 advantage for Shenandoah.  Nguyen added another assist in the second period on Rosena's second goal of the game and Courtney Boschert (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) capped game scoring in the sixty-eighth minute to set the final count a 5-0 in favor of SU.

Three keepers shared time in net for the Hornets while SBC's Tillson played the full ninety.

With the loss the SBC record now stands at 3-10-1 on the year and 1-10 in the ODAC. Shenandoah improves to 9-7-1 overall and 7-3-1 in league play.

Vixen soccer wraps up regular season play on Tuesday, October 29 at Virginia Wesleyan College. The match is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
