Box Score BALTIMORE- Playing their second game in as many days, the Sweet Briar College soccer team fought hard against the host Notre Dame of Maryland University on Saturday afternoon.
The teams played a scoreless first half, but the Gators struck early in the second half and never looked back, finishing with a 3-0 victory over the Vixens.
Alla Stepanov opened the scoring ten minutes into the second half, with an unassisted knock past a charging Katie Tillson in goal for the Vixens. Just two minutes later Stepanov would complete the brace, finishing off a pass from Lindsey Rehak.
As they have all season, the Vixen backline held strong and pulled the opposition offside eight times. The Vixens have caught their opposition offside 22 times through three games this season.
Tillson played all 90 minutes in frame for the Vixens, making 10 saves and seeing a total of 31 shots.
Offensively, Alicia Wooten led Sweet Briar for the second game in a row. She finished with two shots and one on goal. Kat Day also registered a shot on goal.
The Vixens will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Harrisonburg for a 7 p.m. kickoff under the lights against Eastern Mennonite.
