Box Score ASHLAND, Va.- It was a rainy Saturday evening on the campus of the Randolph-Macon College as the Sweet Briar College soccer team paid a visit to the Yellow Jackets. The hosts scored three first-half goals on their way to an 8-0 victory.
Not only were the Vixens battling the elements, but also a strong attack from the Yellow Jackets. R-MC managed 19 shots-on-goal, forcing sophomore Caroline Thomas to make 11 saves. Thomas entered the match ranked second amongst ODAC goalkeepers in both total saves and saves per game.
The Yellow Jackets limited the Vixens offensive opportunities on the afternoon, proving why they have one of the stronger defenses in the league. Entering the game, Randolph-Macon had allowed eight goals in as many games, three of which came in a single game.
Sweet Briar will now turn its focus to Randolph College, whom the Vixens will square off with on Tuesday night. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m. on Randolph's campus in Lynchburg.
