Box Score Cary, N.C.- A goal from Des'rae Davis in the 11th minute wasn't enough for the Sweet Briar College soccer team to notch their first victory of the season, as they fell on the road to William Peace University, 2-1.
With the host Pacers applying offensive pressure, the Vixens struck on the counterattack with junior Alexa Dahlin carrying the ball through the midfield. After beating a defender, she was able to lay the ball of to Davis, who scored her third collegiate goal. For the transfer student Dahlin, it was her first collegiate assist.
The Pacers tied the game just four minutes later after Vixen keeper Caroline Thomas cleared the ball and Ashley Johnson lifted an arching shot from over 20 yards out over Thomas as she was hustling back to her goal.
The game would remain tied at one apiece until the 44th minute when William Peace was able to net their second goal. Both teams locked down defensively in the second half to prevent any further scoring.
