Soccer Takes On Emory & Henry

EMORY, Va.- The Sweet Briar College soccer team hit the road on Saturday afternoon when it traveled to Emory & Henry College for a non-conference matchup. The Wasps netted two second-half goals to secure a 2-0 victory.

The two teams played fairly even soccer for the first half, with Emory & Henry outshooting the Vixens 6-0 in the scoreless frame. Sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Thomas was forced to make three saves in the first half.

The Wasps scored their two goals in a span of just over two minutes. Gillian Hogg with an unassisted effort in the 70th minute and Sam Sampson headed home the corner from Lexi DeMers in the 72nd minute.

Thomas finished the game with 12 saves, a career-best for the Appomattox County native.

The Vixens will be in action next Saturday when they open conference play by host Eastern Mennonite University beginning at 1 p.m.
