MISENHEIMER, N.C. — Sweet Briar swimmers tallied three personal-best times on Saturday, as the Vixens fell 142-27 to UNC Pembroke and 126-38 against host Pfeiffer at the Merner Gym Pool.
Saturday's meet got underway with a fourth-place finish for the Vixens in the 200-yard medley relay. Sweet Briar's relay team of sophomore Taylor Shaw (Virginia Beach, Va.), junior Nora Florio (Lynchburg, Va.), first-year Elizabeth Sanford (Charlotte, N.C.) and junior Theresa Carriveau (West Chicago, Ill.) touched the wall with a time of 2:41.37.
The 200-yard freestyle saw sophomore Lizzie Martin (Dothan, Ala.) sixth with a time of 2:38.08.
Sanford recorded a personal-best time of 29.63 as she finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle, while first-year Leilani Williams (Amherst, Va.) was seventh at 29.89. Junior Dharma Kear was eighth in the 50-yard freestyle at 30.08 and Shaw posted a time of 39.34 to finish 10th.
Williams finished sixth at 3:00.08 in the 200-yard individual medley and Sanford was fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:20.83.
The sixth event of the day, the 100-yard freestyle, saw Vixens finish seventh through 10th. Recording a personal-best time of 1:12.13, Martin finished seventh and sophomore Lauren Jones (Danville, Va.) was eighth at 1:13.59. Florio was ninth at 1:18.20, while Shaw touched 10th with a time of 1:29.79.
Kear touched the wall in the 100-yard backstroke in fifth, with a personal-best time of 1:17.60. Williams followed Kear with a time of 1:19.87 to finish sixth.
Jones posted her best time of the season in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall fifth at 7:15.45.
The final individual event of the day, the 100-yard breaststroke, finished with Martin in sixth at 1:27.71 and Florio in eighth at 1:47.23.
Sweet Briar swam an exhibition relay in the 200-yard freestyle and saw Williams, Kear, Carriveau and Jones finish with a time of 2:06.52.
The Vixens are set to compete at the inaugural Lynchburg Invitational on Saturday, November 9 at 11 a.m., held at the Liberty Natatorium.
