SWEET BRIAR, Va. — Due to lightning in the Amherst County area, Sweet Briar's soccer match-up with Salem has been postponed until further notice.

Sweet Briar (0-3) and Salem played until the 23rd minute before lightning and thunder forced all players and personnel to leave the pitch. Lightning continued throughout the suspension of play, forcing the two teams and officials to abandon the match. 

According to rules 7.52 and 7.5.3 in the 2019 NCAA Soccer Rule Book, Wednesday's match will be treated as a no-contest leaving all statistics nullified and requiring the match to restart at 0-0, should the match be rescheduled.

Sweet Briar is scheduled to return to the pitch on Wednesday, September 18 with a 2 p.m. kickoff scheduled at Wilson in Chambersburg, Pa.
