SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Sweet Briar College has announced that
Olivia Walters has been hired as the Facilities Director after serving as the Interim Facilities Coordinator since March of 2021.
Before being named Facilities Director, Walters originally served as Sweet Briar's Assistant Sports Information Director as part of the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship Grant before moving into a game operations role with the college.
"We are so happy to have Olivia stay with us as the Facilities Director," said
Jodi Canfield, Sweet Briar College athletics director. "One of the goals of the NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship program is to help launch the careers for those in athletics. Olivia excelled in the various aspects of her internship, especially considering the 2/3 of her internship time was during COVID-19. We had the opportunity for a permanent place for her and it is a great match."
Walters, a 2018 graduate from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management and a minor in Business Administration, also has internship experience at Dalton State College. There, she worked in roles in spots information, game management and team operations.
Additionally, she was also a member of the ESPN Event Staff at the Gasparilla Bowl for four years, assisting in bowl week operations and supporting the Raymond James Stadium staff.
