SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar NCEA team (6-4, 6-2 ECAC) will host the 2022 ECAC Conference Championship – Single Discipline South Regional as the No. 1 seed this weekend, March 18-19 at the Harriet Howell Rogers Riding Center.
The Vixens come into the tournament as the No. 1 ranked ECAC team and the No. 1 ranked single discipline team in the nation.
The team previously took down fellow ECAC competitors No. 2 Lynchburg, No. 3 Sewanee and No. 4 Bridgewater by scores for 5-3, 7-1, and 6-0 earlier in the season.
The first round will begin on Friday with No. 1 Sweet Briar competing against No. 4 Bridgewater at 10 a.m. The winner of that meet will go on to face the winner of No. 2 Lynchburg and No. 3 Sewanee on Saturday at 2:45 p.m.
The consolation competition will take place on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.

- Sweet Briar competes better when they have the home advantage, with first-year Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) and junior Kacie Freeburg (Orlando, Fla.) undefeated in flat competition.

What's Next
Following the conclusion of the ECAC Championships, the team will go on to compete at the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) National Championships in Ocala, Fla., April 13-15.
