SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar soccer team is set to open the 2022 season tomorrow, Sept. 2, with a match against Trinity (D.C.) at 3 p.m.
Nine players return for the Vixens this season, including the goalie tandem of
Katelyn Meyer (Smithsburg, Md.) and
Trista Cleaves (Millville, N.J.). Junior Renée Taylor (York, Pa.) who registered an assist in the Vixens' win over the Tigers last season is also back after starting eight games during the 2021 campaign.
Sophomore
Jillian Lewis' (Ellicott City, Md.) sister
Caroline Lewis (Ellicott City, Md.) joins the team as a graduate transfer from Susquehanna. The forward recorded a total of four goals and two assists during her time with the River Hawks while helping the team earn a Landmark Conference championship and an NCAA DIII tournament appearance in 2018.
What to Know
- Sweet Briar welcomes five newcomers to the program in Lewis, junior transfer Jadyn Baker (Morristown, Tenn.) and first-years Michaella Fraser Freshour (South Boston, Va.), Megan Vess (Goodview, Va.) and Lanie Vuick (Murphy, N.C.).
- Junior Delaney Armenti returns to the program following her time training with the team during the COVID-19 season break.
- The Vixens hold a 7-3-1 record against Trinity (D.C.), highlighted by a 3-0 victory last September.
What's Next
Sweet Briar will head out of state to take on Salem College on Sept. 6, followed by a contest against Pfeiffer at home on Sept. 10.
