SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College soccer team (3-7-1) fell to the Randolph College WildCats (7-4-1, 1-3-1 ODAC) at Meyer Field today by a score of 4-0.
The Vixen defense got out to a strong start, holding the WildCats to only one goal through the first half of play.
However, Randolph would find its scoring touch in the second half and tack on three more goals to take the eventual 4-0 victory.
In goal, junior
Trista Cleaves (Millville, N.J.) recorded a career-high 35 saves.
Highlights
- Cleaves totaled 18 saves in the first half and 17 in the second.
- Senior Sophie Vargesko (Plum, Pa.), junior Natalie Cockey (Oxford, Md.) and first-year Elise Bennett (Louisa, Va.) led the team in shots.
- Tonight's game marks the first time the Sweet Briar has held Randolph to four or fewer goals since 2018.
What's Next
The Vixens will head to Trinity Washington on Oct. 18 before returning home to take on Greensboro on Oct. 22.
