SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The No. 1 Single Discipline NCEA team (4-1, 3-0 ODAC) earned a resounding 7-1 victory over the Sewanee Tigers (0-1, 0-1 ODAC) to close out the fall season at the Harriet Howell Rogers Riding Center.
The Vixens pulled ahead 3-1 following the completion of the fences portion of the meet.
Juniors
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) and
Isabelle Mesiarik (Pottstown, Pa.) along with sophomore
Naomi Dachis (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) all earned points for the team.
Atherton scored a 76 on Phantom to beat out her Tiger competitor by 23 points while Mesiarik also won with a large 24-point margin of victory thanks to her 82 on Kobe.
Dachis' score of 80 was three points better than her University of the South opponent Campbell Flanagan.
In flat competition, Sweet Briar went a perfect 4-0. Atherton was named Most Outstanding Performer with her score of an 80 on Buddy while fellow junior
Paige Kennedy (Purcellville, Va.) also totaled an 80 with the help of Stan.
Sophomore
Wyette Felton (Canton, Ga.) and junior
Ella Peterson (Ashland, Va.) total scores of 76 and 79, respectively, to help the Vixens remain perfect and earn the 7-1 victory.
Highlights
- Sweet Briar remains undefeated against Sewanee with four-straight wins.
- Atherton and Mesiarik now move to 5-0 on the season in fences while Peterson and Kennedy are yet to lose on the flat.
