SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The No. 3 Single Discipline Sweet Briar College NCEA team (3-1, 2-0 ODAC) upset the No. 1 University of Lynchburg Hornets (2-2, 1-1 ODAC) today at the Harriet Howell Roger Riding Center with a 733-681 raw score tiebreak after both teams were deadlocked at five points each.
The Vixens fell behind in flat competition, 3-2, with points scored by senior
Emmy Longest (Hanover, N.H.) and junior
Ella Peterson (Ashland, Va.).
Longest earned a 77 on Mulligan to beat Kelley McCormick by 11 points while Peterson totaled a 75 on Trey.
Sweet Briar flipped the script during the fences portion of the meet with junior
Isabelle Mesiarik (Pottstown, Pa.), sophomore
Naomi Dachis (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) and junior
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) all earning points.
Mesiarik beat out her hornets competitor by 14 points with a 79 on Kobe while Atherton scored an 80 on Hemingway for the five-point margin of victory against Jacqi Needle.
Dachis tied for the highest score out of any rider during today's meet with an 82 on Jetson.

- Dachis was named Most Outstanding Performer in fences.
- Sweet Briar remains undefeated at home against Lynchburg with a 2-0 record.
