OCALA, Fla. – The No. 1 seed Sweet Briar College NCEA team (10-2, 7-1 ECAC) has advanced to the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) National Championship Meet after taking down the No. 4 seed Sacred Heart Pioneers 5-3 today.
The Vixens earned two points in fences competition to tie the Pioneers heading into action on the flat.
Sophomore
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) and first-year
Naomi Dachis (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) were the point-getters in fences.
Atherton earned a 255 on Rio to defeat Emma Grimes by 35 points while Dachis scored a 165 on Steve for a five-point victory over Hanna Lloyd.
Sweet Briar pulled away during the fences portion of the meet, snagging three out of the four available points.
First-year
Wyette Felton totaled a 226 on Favorite to take down Lilly Bove by eight points while sophomore
Ella Peterson (Ashland, Va.) earned a 217 on Swank for the one-point win over Raegan Olson.
Rounding out the field for the Vixens was senior
Kacie Freeburg (Orlando, Fla.) who scored a 250 on Chunky for an 18-point margin of victory over Emma Grimes.
Highlights
- Sweet Briar remains undefeated against Sacred Heart with a 3-0 all-time series lead.
- Atherton's score of 255 in fences competition was the second-highest score by any single discipline competitor today.

The Vixens will battle it out against the No. 2 seed Lynchburg Hornets for the Single Discipline National Championship title for the second-straight year tomorrow.
