SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College soccer team (0-2-0) was bested by the Division II Virginia State University Trojans (1-1-0, 0-0-0 CIAA) today at Meyer Field by a score of 4-0.
The Vixens saw four shots on goal within the first 20 minutes of the match with chances from first-years
Alexis Diaz (Connelly Springs, N.C.) and
Amara Clancey (Harrisonburg, Va.) and junior
Jillian Lewis (Ellicott City, Md.).
However, it would be the Trojans who would get on the board first in the 19th minute of play. The visitors would follow that goal up with another less than five minutes later to take the 2-0 lead into the half.
Shots by Diaz and junior
Natalie Cockey (Oxford, Md.) would once again be followed up by a successful conversion from Virginia State to go up by three goals.
An offside call against Sweet Briar would lead to another Trojans goal just a few minutes later to bring the game to its eventual 4-0 finish.

Trista Cleaves (Millville, N.J.) recorded a total of 21 saves.

The Vixens will head to Georgia for contests against Agnes Scott and LaGrange on Sept. 9 and 10, respectively.
