SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College soccer team (3-7-0, 0-5-0 ODAC) fell to the Ferrum College Panthers (12-2-0, 3-2-0 ODAC) by a score of 7-1 this evening at Thayer Field. Despite the loss, the Vixens managed to score the first goal against the Panthers for the program since the 2005 season.
All of Ferrum's goals came in the first half of action as the team got on the board only two minutes into the game.
The Panthers scored four goals in the first 10 minutes of play and their final three in the final 10 minutes of the half to go up 7-0.
Senior
Jillian Lewis (Ellicott City, Md.) scored the historic goal, her fifth of the season, with only one second remaining in the game off a free kick.
Sophomore
Mia Viccora (Fairfax, Va.) recorded a career-high 15 saves in her first appearance in goal this season.
Highlights
- Sweet Briar held Ferrum scoreless in the second half for the first time since the 2003 season.
- Lewis's goal is the program's first on Ferrum since Bethany Magee's '09 tally on Sept. 10th, 2005.

The Vixens will host No. 6/15 Washington and Lee on Saturday for the team's breast cancer awareness game.
