SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College swim team (1-3, 0-3 ODAC) fell to the Guilford College Quakers (1-1), 104-98, and Hollins University (2-2), 154-75, in this evening's home opener at Prothro Natatorium.
The Vixens started the meet off with a second-place finish in the 200-meter medley relay with a time of 2:48.80.
In the 200-meter freestyle, sophomore
Ella Scherrer (Simpsonville, S.C.) placed third while first-year
Emily Carter (Beckley, W. Va.) came fifth with times of 2:57.19 and 3:24.65, respectively.
Senior
Jillian Lewis (Ellicott City, Md.) earned Sweet Briar's second first-place finish of the night with a time of 1:28.87 in the 100-meter breaststroke.
Both Carter and sophomore
Jules Elliott (Norfolk, Va.) recorded new personal-best times in the 50-meter freestyle. Carter recorded a time of 41.55 while Elliott touched the wall at the 42.06 mark.
First-years
Karissa Boyce (Red Rock, Texas),
Carlee Minyard (Jacksonville, Fla.) and
Geneva Seitz (Havre de Grace, Md.) all competed in the 100-meter freestyle and earned times of 1:20.72, 1:39.04 and 2:10.54, respectively.
Carter and Elliott also performed well in the 200-meter backstroke with a third-place finish for Carter and fourth for Elliott.
Sophomore
Amara Clancey (Harrisonburg, Va.) took home third in the 200-meter breaststroke thanks to her time of 3:43.02.
Seitz took home second-place in the 200-meter IM after completing the race in 3:16.18 while Scherrer's time of 3:34.66 put her in fourth.
The event concluded with the 200-meter freestyle relay, which saw the relay team complete the race in 2:29.12.
Highlights
- Seitz captured first place in her first-ever showing in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 12:29.43.
- Lewis nabbed Sweet Briar's third first-place finish of the night in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:30.37.

The Vixens will take on Virginia Wesleyan on Nov. 2nd in Hampden Sydney, Va.
