SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College IHSA team saw success at home as the team was crowned Champions today and two individual riders earned honors as well.
Senior
Marran Vansickle (Powhatan, Va.) was crowned High Point Rider and qualified for regionals as she took victories in both intermediate fences and intermediate flat.
Joining Vansickle at Regionals will be fellow senior
Emily Roberts (Goochland, Va.) whose first-place finish in limit fences and second in limit flat gave her the honor of being named Reserve High Point Rider.
Also taking home first-place finishes were junior
Evelyn Clark (Crofton, Md.) in limit fences and sophomore
Kendel Wickline (Frederick, Md.) in introductory flat.
First-year
Natalia Alvini-Moore (Middletown, Del.), junior
Maggie Booth (Marietta, Ga.) and sophomore
Darien Murphy (Jaffrey, N.H.) all saw second-place finishes in novice flat, open fences and limit fences, respectively.
Fifth-year
Sarah Southard (Culpeper, Va.) placed third in open flat while junior
Sarah Pastula (Rockford, Mich.) saw a third-place finish in limit flat and a fifth place in intermediate fences.
Both junior
Leah Partington (Richmond, Va.) and first-year
Ariana Schneider (Clarksville, Tenn.) took fourth in limit flat while senior
Lainey Butler (Crozet, Va.) rounded out the field for Sweet Briar with fifth in intermediate flat.
Highlights
- Roberts has qualified for Regionals for the second time in her career while Vansickle will make her first appearance in the intermediate class.
- Alvini-Moore made her collegiate debut today.

The team will compete at Liberty on Nov. 9th.
