SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Sweet Briar College soccer team (3-12-0, 0-10-0 ODAC) wrapped up the 2024 season this afternoon against the Shenandoah University Hornets (10-8-2, 5-4-1 ODAC), falling by a score of 7-0.
Both teams were deadlocked at zero for the first 10 minutes of action before the Hornets got on the board at the 11:49 mark.
Shenandoah struck again four minutes later to go up 2-0 and an additional goal six minutes after that gave the visitors a 3-0 lead entering halftime.
The Hornets tacked on four more goals to their total in the second half of play to take the season-ending 7-0 victory.
Highlights
- This afternoon's seven-goal game marks the closest contest between the two teams since 2021 as well as the first scoring opportunities for Sweet Briar against Shenandoah since the two teams met in 2019.
- Senior goalkeeper Trista Cleaves (Millville, N.J.) recorded a season-high 20 saves.
