SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The No. 1 Single Discipline Sweet Briar College NCEA Team earned a 6-4 victory over the No. 4 Sacred Heart University Pioneers today at the Harriet Howell Rogers Riding Center to earn the season sweep.
The Vixens got out to an early 4-1 lead following the completion of fences thanks to points scored by senior
Emmy Longest (Hanover, Va.), juniors
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) and
Isabelle Mesiarik (Pottstown, Pa.) and sophomore
Naomi Dachis (Franklin Lakes, N.J.).
Mesiarik, who remains undefeated in fences competition, totaled an 82 on Kobe to defeat Emma Grimes by 32 points.
Atherton and Longest scored both scored 82s while Dachis was named Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) with her score of 88 on Phantom.
Sweet Briar's two points on the flat were earned by Atherton and junior
Ella Peterson (Ashland, Va.).
Peterson now moves to 7-0 in flat competition after scoring a 78 on Pip to take down Abigail Marsh by 18 points. Atherton totaled an 83 on Buddy to help bring the Vixens to their six-point total.
