OCALA, Fla. – The No. 2-seed Sweet Briar College NCEA team (8-2, 4-0 ODAC) has advanced to another appearance in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) Single Discipline Championship Meet following a 6-4 win over the No. 3 Dartmouth College Big Green today at the World Equestrian Center.
The Vixens took a 3-2 lead following the completion of the flat portion of the meet in the early afternoon thanks to points scored by senior
Emmy Longest (Hanover, Va.), junior
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) and sophomore
Wyette Felton (Canton, Ga.).
Longest totaled a 76 on Caleb to defeat Riley Dickman while Atherton earned a 71.33 to take down Rachel Freer by 1.66 points.
Felton topped all riders on the flat with her score of 81.33 on Rex to earn the point against Margot Luria by a margin of 3.33
The team then went on to match that performance in the early evening fences session with points from Longest, fellow senior
Paige Kennedy (Purcellville, Va.) and sophomore
Naomi Dachis (Franklin Lakes, N.J.).
Longest earned a one-point win margin over Samantha Takacs with her score of 81.67 on Sampson while Kennedy totaled the same score on HD to earn the point against Abby Niles by a margin of 8.34.
Dachis totaled an 83.67 on Klaus to beat out Chloe Terestchenko's score of 81.
