SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The No. 3 single discipline Sweet Briar College NCEA team (3-2, 2-1 ODAC) opened up 2025 at home with a 6-4 victory over the Bridgewater College Eagles (2-3).
The Vixens earned three points in both fences and flat competition to take the win.
First-year
Abigail Schreiner (Villa Rica, Ga.), senior
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) and junior
Maggie Booth (Marietta, Ga.) were the point scorers for Sweet Briar over fences.
Schreiner earned a 72 on Kobe for a five-point victory over Margaret Brown while Atherton totaled a team-high 85 on Hemingway to best Jimena Garcia Nunez by 16 points.
With a score of 80, Booth took an eight-point margin of victory on Chico.
Atherton would go on to match her score of 85 on the flat with Emmett. The Virginia native earned Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) honors thanks to her 27-point win against Mackenzie Bingham.
Booth also added another point to her total with a 78 leading the way for a 10-point defeat of Margarita Trukhina. Earning the additional point for the Vixens in flat competition as senior
Isabelle Mesiarik (Pottstown, Pa.) took down Madeleine Granger by 13 points with her score of 84 on Jakson.
Highlights
- Atherton's score of 85 ties her highest score of the season over fences and marks a new-season high on the flat.
- Sweet Briar has not lost to Bridgewater since competition in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) began.
