RUSTBURG, Va. – The No. 1 seed Sweet Briar College NCEA team (5-1, 3-1 ODAC) will compete in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Equestrian Single Discipline Championships after defeating the No. 5 seed Bridgewater College Eagles (3-7, 0-1 ODAC) 8-2 in today's semifinal meet.
The Vixens earned four points in both fences and flat competition on their way to victory.
Over fences, seniors
Katherine Atherton (Montpelier, Va.) and
Isabelle Mesiarik (Pottstown, Pa.) and juniors
Maggie Booth (Marietta, Ga.) and
Wyette Felton (Canton, Ga.) all earned points.
Atherton averaged an 82.5 on Tuck to defeat Jimena Garcia Nunez by 15 points while Mesiarik totaled a 79.5 on Leo for a one-point margin of victory over Margarita Trukhina.
On Colin, Felton's total of 76.5 bested Madeleine Granger by one point for the win. Booth was named Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) with her score of 86 on Radio to earn the point over Willow Wright who totaled 84.5.
On the flat, Atherton, Mesiarik, Felton and senior
Ella Peterson (Ashland, Va.) earned points for Sweet Briar.
Atherton and Mesiarik both earned a score of 76.5 while Peterson totaled a 71 on Archie for a nine-point win margin over Trukhina.
Felton was named MOP after totaling an 82.5 on Van Gogh for a 20-point margin of victory over Margaret Brown.
