SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Sweet Briar College is proud to announce the hiring of Lauryn Leininger as its new Assistant Athletic Trainer. Leininger started her new position today, August 1st.

Donna Hodgert '89, Director of Athletics. "Her passion and commitment to the health and well-being of the student athletes are evident. Our teams will benefit greatly under her care."
Before Sweet Briar, Leininger spent the past two years at Division II Washburn State University in Topeka, Kan. While at Washburn, Leininger was responsible for overseeing the athletic training needs of the women's soccer and softball programs. Additionally, she supported the women's soccer program through postseason appearances for both the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) and the NCAA Tournament and received training on blood flow restriction rehabilitation strategies to help further improve injury outcomes.
Leininger also spent two years at Division II Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan., where she was in charge of the football and baseball programs. While at Pittsburg State, Leininger assisted with the functional movement assessment of all baseball pitchers and worked on creating rehab programs to fix biomechanical deficiencies.
In the spring of 2021, Leininger spent time at Midwestern State University at Division II Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas and oversaw the women's soccer and assisted with the women's track & field and men's and women's tennis programs.
Leininger graduated from Washburn in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training before going on to earn her Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from Midwestern State in 2020.
