During the years 1975-79, Robin helped lead both the field hockey and lacrosse programs to multiple regional tournaments. Robin represented Sweet Briar at the 1978 National Field Hockey Tournament and was additionally named co-captain of several teams during her collegiate career. Her love of sports was all-encompassing as Robin also served as the sports editor for the Sweet Briar News during her senior year.

As a multi-year member of the Athletic Association, Robin was elected president during her senior year and was also presented with the Crysler Award in 1979, the most prestigious of awards handed out by the Sweet Briar Athletics Department.

One of Robin's most notable accomplishments, however, lies with her suggestion of adopting the Vixen as Sweet Briar's mascot. Until 1978, Sweet Briar's intercollegiate programs had competed without a team name or a mascot. It was Robin's entry of "Vixen" into the school-wide mascot contest that took place in the spring of 1978 that would lead to a lasting legacy and identity for the college's sports teams.
