The Sweet Briar Vixen volleyball squad hosted the Cougars of
Averett University today at Williams Gymnasium. The 7 pm game
was played in front of a boisterous home crowd of friends and
family.
The Cougars played strong to take the victory with set
scores of 25-13, 25-21, and 25-16.
Tonight's highlights come from veteran players Ashley Winters ('11/Mechanicsville, VA) and Cassidy Jones
('11/Rustburg, Va.). Ashley led the team with
strong hitting, five kills, four service aces and twelve
digs. Cassidy added another five kills and played
strong on the floor.
Another team contributions that brought notice was from
first-year player Andra Brumfield (Altavista, Va.) who played
solidly throughout the night, especially in the area of
service receptions.
The Vixen team will travel to Fayetteville, N.C. for the
Methodist Monarchs Inviational Tournament this weekend.
