The Vixen Volleyball team fell to the host Monarchs in the final
match of the Methodist Invitational Saturday evening, 3-0.
Game 1 was a battle that saw an early 6-6 tie, followed by the
Monarchs jumping ahead and the Vixens clawing back several times
before ultimately falling 21-25. The next two games
also went to Methodist by scores of 15-25 and 14-25.
Sweet Briar received a standout performance from Erin Zander
('14/Columbia, S.C.) who tallied six kills and nine
digs. Cassidy Jones ('11/Rustburg, Va.) pitched
in with six kills and Alexis Rukenbrod ('12/Laurel, Md.)
contributed seven digs to the Vixen cause.
Team defense was a strength for the Vixens throughout the match
as they recorded 37 digs as a team.
Sweet Briar returns to action Tuesday, September 7th,
hosting Bridgewater College in an ODAC match beginning at 6:30pm in
Williams Gymnasium.
