Royals Roll Past Vixen Soccer

HARRISONBURG, Va. --- Sweet Briar soccer played the nightcap at Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday, October 12.  Earlier in the day the SBC field hockey squared off against EMU in a 12 p.m. contest.

 

In the 7 p.m. Old Dominion Athletic Conference soccer match, Royal forward Nora Osei (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) powered the EMU offense and the hosts upended SBC by the score of 6-0.  

 

Osei, who leads the league in scoring (13), scored twice and added an assist on the night. TeammateKristen Kirby (Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) also tallied two in the effort.  Kristyn Garlow (Bristow, Va. / Patriot) and Morgan Hill (Martinsville, Va. / Carlisle) rounded out EMU scroing.

 

Although Sweet Briar held the advantage in corners and all but one shot taken was on frame, the Vixen side could not find the back of the net.  

 

SBC keeper Katie Tillson (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) made three saves in the game.  EMU net minder duties were split between Rachel Klainer (Leesburg, Va. / Heritage) and Becca Borg (Gig Harbor, Wash. / Peninusula).  Klainer and Borg each recorded two stops on the night.

 

With the loss, the SBC record now stands at 2-7-1 overall and 0-7 in the ODAC.  EMU improves to 9-4 and 4-3 in the league.  

 

Sweet Briar next faces the Randolph College WildCats on Wednesday, October 16.  The match is set for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff on Babcock Field and the event will be available via livestream.
