SBC Soccer Travels To Guilford

Box Score

GREENSBORO, N.C.- The Sweet Briar College soccer team played a mid-week Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup at Guilford College on Wednesday afternoon. The Quakers scored four first-half goals on the way to a 6-0 victory.

The SBC defense stepped up in the second half by cutting down Guilford's shot total and forcing them to take longer and more off-balanced shots. The Quakers went over 62 minutes without scoring after their opening four tallies. Junior goalkeeper Caroline Thomas made eight saves in the second half to push her game total to 15. In six appearances this season, Thomas has made 72 saves.

First-year midfielder Lera Cordner led the Vixens attack all afternoon, finishing the contest with one shot on goal.

Sweet Briar will return home for two games, the first of which will be Saturday when the Vixens host Shenandoah University at 1 p.m. Next Wednesday, Oct. 25, SBC will host Randolph College and celebrate Senior Day by honoring Jona Cumani, Alexa Dahlin, Leyte McNealus, Elizabeth Phaup and Melissa Wert before the game starts at 4 p.m.
