The Sweet Briar swimming team captured first place in every event Friday evening, racing past the WildCats from Randolph College 134-39.   The Hampden-Sydney Tigers also competed at the RAD Center in Lynchburg, winning their matchup with Randolph 120-69.

Several Vixens had standout performances at the meet.  First-year Theresa Carriveau led the way with first place finishes in the 100y freestyle (109.82) and the 200y breaststroke (308.23).  Carriveau added a second place touch in the 200y freestyle (234.45).  Fellow first year Sarah Ahson added two event victories, securing the 50y freestyle (28.83) and the 200y backstroke (2:39.28).

Claire Zak- 1000y freestyle (14:18.47)

Sarah Cahoone - 200y freestyle (2:28.17)

Dharma Kear - 200y butterfly (2:50.74)

Caroline Thomas - 200y IM (3:07.11)

Lauren Graham - 500y freestyle (6:54.77)

Sweet Briar was also buoyed by the second place finish in the 200y IM by Kat Carter and the third place finish in the 200y backstroke by Nora Florio.

Coach Donna Hodgert was pleased with her team's showing.  "The focus today was to practice for our championship performances in two weeks," she shared.  "We have been working our pacing for the 200s and our mental plan.  I was very happy to see the team execute the things we have been highighting all week in practice.  They have been working hard since our winter training trip and been going 100%.  They are primed for a great taper."

Sweet Briar will conclude their dual meet season on Wednesday, January 31st when they host Roanoke at Prothro Natatorium for a 6 p.m. start.
