AUBURN, Ala. — A strong three-point showing on flat, helped Sweet Briar earn a 5-3 neutral-site victory over New Paltz at the Auburn Equestrian Center on Saturday morning.
Sweet Briar earned the first flat point when sophomore Maggie Fraley (White Haven, Pa.) topped Brynley Smith 76-68 on Lego.
Junior Katie Balding (Williamsburg, Va.) earned an 81-74 win riding LJ, while junior Lily Peterson (Ashland, Va.) finished flat with an 87-73 win on Millie. Peterson's ride earned her MOP honors on flat.
First-year Sophia Kane (Carbondale, Colo.) posted an 80-point performance on Changoo, but saw her opponent Madeline Berg score an 84.
Fences saw the two sides split two points each.
Sweet Briar earned its first fences point in the rain as Fraley topped Berg 79-76 on Jones.
Kane earned the final Vixens point of the morning with an 88-60 win over Camryn Dluginski on Pilot. Kane earned MOP honors for her fences performance.
Sophomore Britt Larson-Jackson (Washington, D.C.) was edged 82-77 by Brynley Smith on Leo, while Peterson notched a 58 on Player.
Sweet Briar will close the fall season on October 25 with a 9 a.m. meet scheduled in Felton, Del. against Delaware State.
