EMORY, Va. — Sweet Briar first-year goalkeeper Katelyn Meyer tallied 14 saves as the Vixens dropped a 5-0 decision at Emory & Henry on Saturday evening at Fred Selfe Stadium.
"We had more opportunities in the second half and did a better job staying organized," said Sweet Briar head coach Jason Capps. "We created three or four quality chances in the second half. We just need to finish our opportunities."
Sweet Briar (0-14-1, 0-8-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) surrendered an own goal in the 18th minute, that would go in the book as the match winner.
The Wasps (3-11-2, 1-7-1) notched three additional goals in the opening half, before scoring a final goal in the 58th minute.
Senior Lacey Tucker (Swansboro, N.C.) and junior Caylin Newman (Bedford, Va.) both placed one shot on frame for the Vixens on the evening.
Meyer (Smithsburg, Md.) finished the day with 14 saves for the Vixens.
Sweet Briar concludes its 2019 home slate on Wednesday, October 30, with a 4 p.m. match against Randolph.
