GREENSBORO, N.C. — Sweet Briar swimmers won four events and recorded five personal bests as the Vixens topped Salem 113-61 and fell 114-80 to Guilford at the Greensboro Aquatic Center on Friday.
Sweet Briar's meet got underway in the 1000-yard freestyle, which wrapped up with junior Dharma Kear (Virginia Beach, Va.) touching the wall first with a personal best time of 13:27.17.
A Vixen won the next individual event when first-year Peyton Murphy (Norfolk, Va.) finished at 2:18.72 in the 200-yard freestyle. Sophomores Lizzie Martin (Dothan, Ala.) and Lauren Jones (Danville, Va.) finished fourth and fifth, respectively in the 200-yard freestyle with Martin finishing at 2:39.13 and Jones at 2:49.21.
First-year Elizabeth Sanford (Charlotte, N.C.) finished third in the 50-yard freestyle with a personal best time of 29.08, while first-year Leilani Williams (Amherst, Va.) touched at 29.83 in fourth. Finishing seventh was junior Nora Florio (Lynchburg, Va.) with a time of 36.75 and in ninth was sophomore Taylor Shaw (Virginia Beach, Va.) at 36.75.
Kear was third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:49.30.
Williams and Sanford were first and second, respectively, in the 100-yard butterfly with Williams finishing at 1:16.48 and Sanford with a personal best of 1:19.35.
Florio finished third with a time of 1:18.51 in the 100-yard freestyle before Murphy won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:11.08. Martin was second in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:24.45, while Shaw was seventh at 1:53.89.
Sanford and Jones finished second and third, respectively, in the 500-yard freestyle with Sanford finishing with a personal best time of 6:59.21 and Jones at 7:22.21.
The final individual event finished with Murphy in third with a 100-yard breaststroke time of 1:22.69. Martin touched fourth with a time of 1:32.89 and Florio finished sixth with a personal best time of 1:43.95.
The 200-yard freestyle relay finished with Sweet Briar in second, finishing with a time of 2:12.79. The Vixens' relay was comprised of Jones, Kear, Williams and Shaw.
Sweet Briar concludes its home schedule on December 7 with a 1 p.m. meet against Gallaudet and Guilford.
